Martin Townshend
Managing Director and founder
Martin has worked in the ICT industry for nearly 20 years in both the private and public sectors. After fulfilling a variety of technical roles in local government he moved on to a large multinational ICT Managed Services company specialising in network infrastructure implementations. After successfully installing a diverse range of networks across the country he specialised in project management becoming qualified to Prince II Practitioner level and achieving APM Member status. His professional approach, commitment and successful track record of delivering projects has led to the continual increase in size and complexity of the projects and programmes he has completed.
His last assignment before launching Infrastructure UK was as Programme Manager for the implementation of a multi-million pound enterprise-wide next generation network for a local government client. This involved taking the initial concept successfully through each stage of the delivery process from building the initial business case, gaining financial approval, selecting suppliers, procurement, phased implementation and handover through to support. The programme dramatically reduced the quantity and complexity of the organisations’ networks, whilst delivering significant business benefits for the entire organisation as well as for the local community.
Martin is now focusing on developing his business by helping businesses of all sizes benefit from the services that Unified Communications makes possible. This includes the full spectrum of services from capturing business needs, planning, design, implementation, operating and optimising.
He likes to spend his spare time with his family and friends, catching a film at the cinema, playing or watching a game of football. He particularly enjoys the challenges of entertaining his pre-school son and attempting to beat his nephew playing FIFA on the PS3 – both of which are virtually impossible!
